Used Limousines: Sales And Prices

They remain synonymous with special occasions, luxury and pomp. Since the invention of the automobile, the limousine has stood apart as a vehicle of extravagance.
These days, most people have had the pleasure of riding in a limousine, whether it be to prom, to a wedding, to the airport or (sadly) to a funeral.
For those looking to rent or even purchase a limousine, a variety of options exist. Purchasing used limousines may be ideal for some consumers.
Before discussing used limousines, it may be helpful to give a brief history of the vehicle itself. In technical terms, a limousine is “an usually long luxury car, traditionally black or white in color” and “are most commonly driven by chauffeurs.” Interestingly, the term “limousine” itself comes from the “the name of the French region Limousin, where the inhabitants wore a hood perceived to be similar to the profile of the car.”
A variety of institutions make use of both new and used limousines. For example, many limousines are owned by government services for the purpose of transporting politicians and other officials. Rather than having clients or executives take a cab, many corporations will provide limousine transportation. The majority of limousines though, “operate as livery vehicles, providing upmarket competition to taxicabs.” In other words, rather than take a taxicab to a wedding or dance, most would rather opt for the fun and luxury of a limousine.
Logically, one of the most common markets for used models is a limousine rental/chauffer service. These days, the Internet has helped a great deal in facilitating the locating process. After all, half the battle is finding a variety of used limousines to choose from.
Several Web sites highlight a variety of used limos for sale. For example, a quick search on one such site located a 1993 Lincoln Town Car stretch limo. In addition to providing a photograph of the vehicle, the site also gives a detailed description of the interior and exterior, the condition of the vehicle as whole, and of course, the selling price. With a little patience, a diligent consumer can locate used limousines of several different prices, model years, colors and interior designs.
Finding custom used limousines much more difficult. Various institutions known as “custom coach builders” can take an SUV or luxury van and actually extend it, transforming it into a limousine. Such a transformation has been performed on such models as the Lexus, Jaguar, Ford, Hummer, BMW and even Cadillac.
With a little effort, one should not have trouble finding a quality used limousine.
