Traditional Limos: Weddings, Proms And Parties

By:

Published: November 14, 2006

Often recognized as a symbol of wealth and prestige, the limousine is used as transportation to and from various events, such as weddings, funerals, high school dances and parties. Most traditional limos, which are generally black or white, include a wide array of special features, and are usually driven by chauffeurs.

Today, these long luxury vehicles are owned by wealthy individuals, government officials, broadcasters and large companies. However, because people enjoy riding around in luxury before making a grand entrance, traditional limos mainly operate as expensive alternatives to taxicabs.

Features of Traditional Limos

The traditional limo, which is an extension of a regular four-door sedan, includes a variety of enticing features and amenities which help make it a special luxury vehicle. With a forward facing seating arrangement, up to seven passengers (in addition to the driver) can enjoy a considerable amount of leg room. Also, a sliding glass window, or partition, keeps conversations between the passengers confidential from the chauffeur.

Most traditional limos offer additional amenities, such as audio players, televisions, video players, refrigerators, bars and multiple doors. Telephones, which may still be offered in older limousines, are no longer necessary because of the popularity of cell phones.

Finding the Right Limousine Company

When renting a limousine for a special occasion, such as a wedding, bachelor or bachelorette party, or a night on the town with friends, it is important to find a company providing reliable service as well as top-quality traditional limos. Therefore, be sure to follow a few simple steps before renting a limousine.

Because traditional limos vary greatly in both selection and price, it is essential to research various limousine companies in order to find the right one. The yellow pages, either in the phone book or online, likely will have phone numbers of different local limousine providers. Also, because many limo companies have informational Web sites promoting their services, an online search engine is another helpful source for finding the right limousine company. However, because many companies tend to advertise traditional limos they do not even own, be sure to select a provider featuring pictures of its limousine selection.

Once a list of local traditional limo providers has been created, the next step is to check prices. Most limousine providers charge by the hour, however, some may charge by the day or the mile, or even a combination of each. Because each company may offer similar (but not exactly the same) prices, other factors should be considered, such as how many people will be riding in the limo and where the party will be going.

Finally, before selecting a company, it is important to remember that quality does not come cheap.

According to the popular traditional limo company, Fairfield CT Limousine, “If a company prides itself on its cheap prices, chances are they are cutting back on quality of service, proper livery insurance, maintenance of cars and their integrity.”
